Review: The Case of the Stolen Sixpence by Holly Webb, Marion Lindsay

MY TAKE:
I like a good mystery and this book did not disappoint.

In The Case of the Stolen Sixpence, Maisie dreams of being a detective and she gets her chance when one of her friends is accused of stealing even though he insists he didn't do it. Can Maisie solve the puzzle with the help of her puppy Eddie, friend Alice and the other boarders in her grandmother's house?

This book reminded me of Nancy Drew Notebooks but set in England. The drawings are also really cute and reminds me of another children's book series that I can't remember right now but which I also liked.

The characters in the book, especially the boarders, are also so likable. They seem quite interesting and are all so nice to Maisie, which isn't difficult because Maisie is such a sweet and charming child.

The mystery was more complicated than I imagined and I'm happy that it ultimately was a happy ending. This book definitely left me wanting to read more about Maisie's friends and her adventures.

1. You'll have to wait until next year for the next book in the series.

2. You like sweet and interesting characters.
3. Your little girl dreams of becoming a detective.
